About the event

About Parade

In Atlanta, Georgia in 1913 Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager from Brooklyn, is accused of the rape and murder of a 13 year old employee.  Parade is based on the true story of how the trial, sensationalised by the media, aroused antisemitic tensions in the deep South and how the events surrounding it led the revival of the defunct KKK and the birth of the Jewish Civil Rights organisation.  On its Broadway premiere in 1998, Parade was nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning Best Book and Best Score. It also won Best New Musical at the Drama Desk and The New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards.
